Say the words “technology management”, and some people have a look of puzzlement on their faces – they have no idea what the term means. Basically, technology management follows the same course as other strategies applied in the workplace in order to further the success and sustainability of a company or organization: Planning, organizing, staffing, implementing and monitoring/evaluation. The one difference is that in technology management, you add the “technology” factor to the mix.

Nearly every individual today knows that technology is meant to make life simpler and more streamlined. Today, information technology management allows companies to make their business more competitive by utilizing available information technology resources. Corporations and companies of all sizes benefit through information technology management, as managers and business owners discover effective ways to utilize technology so that the operation and standing of the company is improved in a competitive business environment. Technology management is necessary in all divisions, including marketing and communications, development of products, process innovations and reporting efficiency. Through these strategies, companies are able to create value and remain competitive with a cutting-edge advantage.

Information technology management can be useful in all levels of business, from online websites and internal business functions to management of daily activities in the workplace. In the corporate environment, information technology management assists owners and managers in determining the markets they choose to operate in. Most businesses today have an online presence in the form of a website; those in technology management can set up such a presence, making ordering materials and other goods easier and efficient. In any business setting, forecasting production and projecting sales is essential; information technology also becomes useful in this sense, since many companies use software to create this data.

In any type of technology management, it is essential that an individual or team take responsibility for implementing and developing strategies that are functional, efficient and designed to make the everyday tasks of business easier and more efficient. At this point, efficient technology management requires that employees and management understand how these processes work, and how to use them in the most productive manner. In today’s business environment most tasks, communications and projects are made simpler due to the ease of transfer of information between departments and individuals. This means that good technology management often does away with time-wasting, needless activities that essentially cost the company money.

In the workplace, it’s easy for productivity and efficiency to suffer; time necessary to complete tasks and projects can be drastically reduced, resulting in an impact to the bottom line. Good technology management often results in an improvement in all aspects of business, including finance, accounting, research and development and human resources. Various software applications, programs and computers increase the productivity of individual employees, making many processes automatic, accurate and more efficient. In order to remain competitive in the business environment and stand apart from direct competitors, efficient technology management is an essential investment.

Information Technology and the move to a computerized infrastructure model are bringing great changes to many industries. Often it is the CIO of the company who escort this fundamental shift in the business revenue stream. Leading others through modernization, revolutionize and transformation means you must be able to make changes yourself.

Forget about asking whether technology drives business or business drives technology. Stop perturbing about whether or not technology is strategic. Silence all the confusions about how advance this technology is to that technology. In technology, there are numerous questions that if you have to ask, you probably already know and don’t like the answer. A more satisfying line of inquiry is how much of your technological horsepower is actually being used to turn the wheels of innovation.

Some people says that Technology drives business modernization, novelty, success & Innovations that opens up new doors of opportunities, improves the company’s performance on the whole, sharpens the company’s market intelligence, and makes new things possible for the clients. Another school of thought is that the Business Drives Technology, as such integration is about assisting business to facilitate their profitability by utilizing technology and other resources available to the enterprise. But realistically speaking, the driving force comes from the CEO and CIO of the company, who both endeavor to leverage technology to its fullest potential.

In a society that has become entirely dependent on computers and immediate communications, technology is becoming the heartbeat in the process of office design as decisions on layout and services. Some aspects of technology, like the computer animation & communication, are highly visible demonstration devices. But more of it is in the largely unseen infrastructure, with the emphasis on sophisticated wiring and smart communication devices to provide for an ever greater flow, and on communications and power facilities to keep operations running through almost any anticipated calamity.

In the modernization of the today’s businesses, Common business drivers include; Mergers and Acquisitions, Internal Reorganizations, Application and System Consolidation, Inconsistent/Duplicated/Fragmented Data, New Business Strategies, Compliance with Government Regulations, Streamlining Business Processes. To achieve the success in the accommodation of these business drivers, the sturdy and smart input would be required from both the parties i.e. the business as well as the technology.

          ]]>

In a company, you could cover every surface in your office with how to manage change. But one aspect of change management that often dodges IT Managers is how to better influence corporate colleagues. If information technology drives business decisions, the IT executives must communicate and be persuasive with other department heads on key project management issues.

Strategic planning for Information Technology is one component of an overall company vision for success. This psychoanalysis facilitates IT professionals to successfully define short and long-term goals and ascertain the resources necessary to apprehend such goals. To ensure success, the strategic plan should be developed in a thorough but rapid manner, consist of a brief, succinct compilation of analyzed data, and provide opportunities by which additional planning and analysis can occur.

Several important benefits occur as the result of a successful strategic IT plan. First, employees are provided with an understanding of how their role fits in with the overall company structure. Also, this planning allows managers to realize additional opportunities for growth and success. Finally, important relationships between technology investment and positive outcomes, such as increased market share, are revealed.

It’s now become the industry dilemma that IT people need to know more about business. They need to understand the disciplines and the lingo of business process management, business performance management, customer relationship management, supply chain management, financial management, human resources management, operations management, etc. Lacking that knowledge, communication with business people and understanding of business requirements will forever be troubled.

On the other hand the Business people should also drive their efforts to know more about information technology. As with all communication and relationship issues, this is not a prejudiced problem. Just as IT people need to become more business-oriented, business people need to be more IT-oriented. They need to understand the roles and relationships among the many different kinds of technology upon which their information systems depend, and they need to understand the dependencies among those technologies. Business people need to have a working knowledge of the technology stack as it affects their capability to get information, perform business analysis, and make informed business decisions.

Beyond the relatively straight-forward needs of business becoming IT-oriented and technologists becoming business-oriented, there lies a new challenge. We must develop common understanding and shared perspective of value, an issue that is both a business concern and a technology consideration. When business and IT have different meaning and outlook for value, conflicts are certain to arise.

Business and IT organizations often have two evidently different perspectives of value. IT expert generally take a data-to-value approach. Where Data produces information, information enhances knowledge, knowledge drives action, action produces outcomes, and favorable outcomes deliver value. Business management typically uses a goals-to-value system. Business drivers and goals determine strategies, strategies drive tactics, which in turn produce results, and positive results produce value.

Effective business/IT relationships are ultimately a question of alignment. New IT skills, new business skills, and new perspectives that sets the stage for business/IT alignment. But it doesn’t assure alignment. To achieve genuine association there are several things that must be done; some by IT, some by the business, and some collectively.

Conflicts between business and IT organizations have existed from the very beginning of automated Information Systems. We have accelerated in so many ways both in business and in technology. However, the problem still pestilences most of the businesses. The Business/IT crack must go away. The cost is high; the value is null; and the barriers that it crafts grow bigger each moment. The problem can be fixed, and the time to fix it is now!

There are many strategies used today in the business world that play a part in the total success of the company. Planning, organizing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, staffing – these are all strategies that are necessary to take any organization to its full potential and maintain that level of success. Technology management is much the same; the difference is that the word “technology” stumps many. Think about all of the things that make life easier today; cell phones, computers, and software – these are examples of the technological advances that have contributed to making modern life easier and more convenient. Hence, the term “technology management” simply means the management of technology!

Throughout every level or division of the company, technology management is essential; this includes communications, marketing, product development, and efficiency in reporting. Today, technology management is one component of the business environment that allows companies to remain competitive in any market, even those with fierce competitors.

          ]]>

Those who work in the technology management field are often responsible for determining whether a certain technology is valuable or will be an asset to the performance and success of the company. Additionally, technology management is often defined as those individuals or team members who work to make all things technical (computers, software programs, etc.) easily usable to the people who use these devices or programs.

As Nvudev describes it, technology management is a necessary component to corporations and companies both big and small looking to expand; those individuals who make up the technology management team for any business can arrange and organize information so that the data is useful in making future decisions. In technology management, the proper use of information can either be of extreme benefit to a company, or it can save an executive or manager of that company from making a hugely detrimental mistake that may actually put the business at risk of total failure.

Information is one integral component that helps determine the course of all businesses. Information can be used to analyze past performance, expenditures, revenues and more, but it can also be used to predict a pattern for the future. This is why technology management is so vital to the heartbeat of business today.

In today’s world, technology continues to advance at a rapid pace; this is why it is so important that companies and corporations implement technology management in to the strategies they use to remain productive and competitive. Every business is looking to thrive and expand their horizons in order to become more profitable and cutting-edge; without the implementation of effective technology management, businesses will be left behind as competitors continue to soar ahead.

Are you involved in running a business? Are you someone who is technologically astute or are you someone who has not embraced or mastered the use of technology? Incorporating technology into your business can be an invaluable asset. You will learn how using technology can help businesses gain a competitive advantage.

One of the benefits that a business can reap from using technology is an increase in efficiency. Did you know that the worker productivity rate in the United States of America has risen over the last few decades? It has risen as a result of workers being more efficient. Developments in technology has made this possible.

Have you not equipped the employees with a computer? If not, you could be making a mistake, especially if you have employees such as call center workers who have to process information while talking with customers or survey respondents over the telephone. I did this type of work.

As a telephone interviewer working for a market research firm, I was responsible for recording the responses that the respondents I interviewed gave me. For a while, I had to always write down the responses. This process was inefficient because it took a while to write down the respondents’ answers, causing an inconvenience for both the interviewers and the respondents. Once our supervisors started having us do all of the surveys on a computer, we started conducting surveys much quicker and I started completing at least one survey every hour. This new method of conducting surveys probably gave our firm an advantage over market research firms that only conduct surveys through the pencil and paper process.

Do you have employees who make or receive a lot of telephone calls while using a computer? If so, do you only enable them to type information while using a shoulder to hold the phone to an ear? This is unproductive because it can cause shoulder strain and restrict a worker’s range and mobility. You can give your workers plenty of range and help them type quicker by providing them a telephone headset.

If you provide your employees a computer or any other form of technology, you should do more than that. You should also frequently upgrade any equipment and equipment accessories such as computer software that you use when new products or software are made. If you do this, you will likely gain an advantage over competitors who stick with outdated equipment.

Businesses that use technology can produce work better than businesses that do not. If all work is done solely through human effort, it is likely the work will be done too slowly and contain too many errors.

Does your business have a web site? If not, you should get one because many people prefer to do business and learn about companies online.

Another advantage you can gain from using technology is being able to attract and retain quality employees. After all, if you have employees who can use advanced or new technology, you will likely have to pay them a good wage.

You have learned how using technology can give your business a competitive advantage.

Choosing a Business Mobile Phone

When choosing a mobile phone for personal use, the buyer is usually looking for the latest style, the hottest color and all the little extra features that a phone can offer them. When choosing a phone for business, however, it is best to choose a phone that suits the needs of the business, not one with a lot of extra gadgets that you will probably never even use.

When choosing a business phone, the main features that you may want to look for

include:

1. Large screen

2. Easy to use interface

3. Email capability – preferably via Blackberry Mobile email

4. Calendar capability

5. Camera if you are in a business that needs a camera phone

Obviously these are features that you would not be looking for on a standard phone for personal use but you just never know when any or all of these features may come in handy for your business. There are several other things to keep in mind when looking for the perfect business mobile phone for you.

A company that you may want to look into for help in finding the perfect business mobile for you is Telaustralia. They carry phones from top manufacturers such as Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, Samsung, LG, and 02 mobile phone hand sets. Also you can choose to get a phone for free with a 24 month plan or contact them to purchase one of their phones or handsets outright.

Nokia is the traditional market leader for Mobile Phone handset sales, but over the past 2 years has faced much stiffer competition from the likes of Motorola, Sony Ericsson and Samsung who’s mobile phone handsets are gaining popularity. For typical Business use, longevity and reliability we still recommend Nokia Mobile Phone handsets followed by Sony Ericsson.

If you want your Business Mobile Phone handset to be a useful Business tool and not a play thing full of gadgets you wont use, heres a few tips that may be useful in selecting your next phone.

Consumers usually select a mobile phone based personal preference with brand, size, colour, flip phone or not etc. For a Business user however, selecting the right Business Mobile Phone handset to do the job should always be a matter of substance over style.

As we have number portability in Australia you are no longer locked into one network or provider for your Business mobile Phones. With telaustralia you can bring your Business Mobile phone with you or we can provide a handset as part of your deal and have access to the Telstra Mobile Phone Network or the Optus Mobile Phone Network.

Some of the features you need for your Business mobile Phone are -

Do you need a flip phone or block style?

Usually this is just personal choice but in some cases there are functional issues that dictate. eg. are you in an environment where there is a lot of dust? A flip Phone or clam shell style may be more suitable as it closes after use and this may reduce (but not altogether eliminate) the amount of dust that gets into the key pad and screen. Are you likely to drop or have impact on the mobile phone? If so a rubberized tradesman type of mobile phone may be more suitable.

http://www.telaustralia.com.au/all-products.html

Battery Life

Long battery life is essential for your business mobile phone, especially when traveling or on the road a lot. There is nothing worse than running out of charge at an inappropriate time – usually in the middle of an important call.. Look for mobile phones that use a lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery rather than a nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) one. Li-ion batteries weigh less and provide 10 to 20 percent better performance than their NiMH counterparts. You’ll want a mobile phone with a rated talk time of at least 3.5 hours, preferably closer to 5 hours. If your mobile comes with a desktop charger, shell out for the travel charger since it’s significantly smaller and easier to pack for business trips.

Travel

If your travels take you overseas, you’ll want a tri-band GSM (Global System for Mobile communications) Mobile Phone, which operates on networks (GSM 900/1800/1900) in Europe, Asia and the US.

Features

You’ll also want a handset that features a hefty address book — at least 300 names with support for multiple entries per contact. Some Mobile Phones allow you to include information such as email, Web and street addresses with your contacts. You can enter all that information one key at a time, or you can get a Mobile Phone with the ability to synchronize with Microsoft’s Outlook on your PC. Nokia PC Suite allows you to load address book and other software on to your lap top and back up as required and import other information such as calendars, pictures & songs to your phone.

Bluetooth

Bluetooth equipped Mobile Phones are a must these days. If your PC or handheld doesn’t feature integrated Bluetooth support, you can purchase an adapter to add this functionality. Then you can browse the Internet using your Mobile Phone as a wireless modem. You can also use Bluetooth to synchronize phone numbers and addresses between your Mobile Phone and other devices.

Another advantage with Bluetooth is that many cars now come equipped with Bluetooth hands free so there no need to get handsfree kits wired up in your vehicle. If you vehicle isnÕt already equipped with Bluetooth, portable and rechargeable handsfree kits such as Blue Ants Supertooth 2 are available and very low cost. These usually clip to your sun visor and are portable from car to car.

Internet

Even better, skip your notebook altogether. Fast Internet access is rapidly becoming a common feature in mobile phones. Most GSM Mobile Phones support GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) networks, which offer always-on Internet content and data services, enabling access to Web browsing, email and multimedia content at around 56Kbps. 3g Data is carried at speeds of up to 3.6Mbps with planned speeds in Australia of over 40Mbps using HSDPA. Many mobile phone manufacturers including Nokia & Sony Ericsson are now taking advantage of the RIM BlackBerry Licencing and including Blackberry Mobile email on their mobile phones.

If you spend most of your time away from the office meeting with clients, you may want to consider a smart phone, which combines mobile phone and handheld functions in one unit. These phones are larger and much more expensive than standard handsets, often costing as much AU,200, but they eliminate the need for two separate devices.

The benefit of Wireless VoIP phones is an obvious and great choice for retail organizations, institutions, and even hospitals to contemplate using. No longer is there a desire for a society to have separate systems for work (computer-based) and voice communications (telephone-based). Businesses and personal communications can be comprehensive.

With the convergence of VoIP and Wi-Fi , Voice over Wireless is anticipated to be the next move forward into the future of wireless communications.

Internet VoIP phones are proceeding wireless. Internet phone vendors have combined wireless networking with Voice Over Internet Protocol phone service to produce Wi-Fi VoIP phone technology.

Wireless VoIP phones are also known as VoWLAN or voice over wireless local network areas and Wi-Fi phones. The operation of wireless VoIP phones requires a data network to which Wi-Fi equipment is combined. Internet connections are accessed from wireless hotspots allowing VoIP Wireless phones to communicate.

The benefits of using this type of technology is obvious. Apart from the independence it supplies, wireless VoIP phone systems enable societies to merge communications to include phone communications, email, and text messaging, permitting them to work with each other in one system. This proficiency is a time saver, as well as saving money.

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has been gaining a lot of consideration currently, as more businesses and individuals move from standard telephone service to phone service via the Internet with benefits outweighing those of traditional phone services.

Ease of use- The VoIP phone handsets are not hard to use: If you use a cell phone, you’ve got the abilities needed to operate a Wi-Fi VoIP phone. To place a phone call, simply key in the phone number and select Send. Calls are then routed onto the public-switched phone network through your VoIP carrier.

Save Money- Wi-Fi VoIP phones utilizing the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) standard, anyone could place a Internet phone call to anywhere in the world for a flat fee or reduced rates.

Some businesses mobile phone accounts in the tech industry and or service industries are a major encumbrance, so with the unification of WiFi VoIP Mobile phones in conjunction with Internet access and individual organizer’s will provide a great savings for these companies.

Laptop-toting business travelers can also enjoy inexpensive, or even free, voice calls when they elect to employ services such as Skype or other VoIP service providers.

Keeping you Phone Number when you Move- VoIP phones also provide a great feature of enabling you to preserve your current phone number regardless where you choose to relocate as long as you use a high speed Internet access.

VoIP phone calls expedite assignments over the same broadband connection being location independent using an Internet connection to connect to your service provider.

Efficient- Connecting VoIP calls through a Wi-Fi network to a residential broadband connection, can be made for free or at prices sometimes half of that for a cell phone call.

WiFi mobile phones also sense a Wi-Fi hot spot and interchange to a Wi-Fi mode, permitting functions such as sending e-mail and downloading files.

With a Wi-Fi cell phone, if within a structure using Wi-Fi access, the call is handed off from the traditional cellular network to the Wi-Fi LAN, acquiring advantage of VoIP technology is to maintain the call without drop-out.

When a Wi-Fi VoIP-based communication is taking place indoors, or surrounded by a Wi-Fi hotspot, it can unnoticeably transfer to the traditional cellular network if the user strolls out of range of the hotspot throughout the call.

Features- Numerous individuals currently favor VoIP to Analog phones. Analog or conventional phones are departing the battle against VoIP when it arrives to cost effectiveness, standards, quality, and ease of utilization.

WiFi VoIP phones host many calling features supporting voice-quality enhancements, including speed dialing, call forwarding, call waiting and conference calling. Many handsets now offer features such as a high-resolution display, menu-driven functions and messaging capabilities encouraging exceptional voice quality and mobility.

Considering that many new VoIP phones are designed to expand with system capabilities, characteristics are assured to keep pace with new system enhancements.

Convenience- WiFi VoIP phones enable users the same convenience and portability that they have pleasure in with a wireless Internet connection for their homes.

Presently, VoIP phones with built in Wi-Fi offer the convenience of taking your VoIP phone and phone number to any free Wi-Fi hot spots to place a call.

WiFi VoIP phone users, will not even be capable of noticing the distinction in a change over from the telephone that they had been utilizing to make all of their residence phone calls – in fact, the only difference that will take place is the absence of a statement from the telephone company.

Flexibility- Wifi VoIP phone technology seizes flexibility to a step toward the front. With its performance close to that of a WiFi internet modem this phone technology boosts the portability by permitting the users to make calls from anywhere as if they are operating their cordless phones.

Another benefit that wireless VoIP phones offer over cellular is reception—cellular phones don’t consistently work inside a sizeable workplace, manufacturing buildings, or lower ground floor offices, while VoIP phones do. VoIP technology is well-suited for sizeable offices, retail merchants, clinics, and for individuals who must journey from office to office. For users who must consistently have access to the phone, having a wireless VoIP phone attached to their belts instead of at their work station can save time.

Voice Over IP- VoIP is currently developing and increasing corporate recognition as device costs lower and VoIP phones technology is enhanced. VoIP over Wireless LAN- VoWLAN is freeing the telephone from the cord and providing the end user with a reliable, efficient way to communicate with the future.

Buying a new business phone system is one of the most important
purchases any business will ever make. The selection of a phone
system can either bring a business closer to its customers and
clients or, cause confusion and chaos amongst all that use or
interact with it.

It is therefore essential that you choose the right phone system
for your business needs. The telephone is quite often the
fastest and easiest way to reach customers and clients. It
should also be the fastest and easiest way for them to reach
you. It should be flexible enough to be able to cover all of
your company’s needs and handle all calls appropriately. The
last thing any business wants is for its important business
callers and customers to be routed incorrectly, disconnected, or
faced with a long list of confusing automated options.

There are lots of factors that need to be taken into
consideration when choosing a new business telephone system.
Below are a few of the main ones:

1. You need enough capacity to fulfil your current business
needs.

2. Assess your potential future growth and select a compatible
phone system accordingly.

3. Ensure compatibility with any equipment you already own
(headsets, handsets, conferencing equipment, cabling etc).

4. What features does your business phone system need to
incorporate?

Fulfilling all the factors above and any more you can think of
can be an expensive challenge for any business. The aim of this
guide is to help you understand what decisions you need to make
in order to choose the right phone system for your business.

Types of business phone system

There are three major types of phone system available: KSU- Less
phones, Key systems and Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems.
Which type of phone system you choose will depend on the amount
of extensions you require and the features your telephone system
needs to have installed.

KSU-Less systems

KSU-Less systems are usually more suited to companies that
typically have less than ten employees, or require less than ten
extensions. That isn’t to say that all companies requiring less
than ten phone extensions can make do with a KSU-Less system. It
may be that you require more features which are only available
through either a PBX or Key phone system.

Requiring a far lower initial investment than the other types of
business phone systems, KSU-Less phones are specifically
designed to include many of the features usually only available
through the implementation of a full small business phone system.

KSU-Less systems can be easily unplugged and relocated, because
they are not permanently wired into your office. This
portability allows you to treat a KSU-Less phone system, much
the same as any business machine, rather than a lost permanent
investment.

You will need to ensure that any KSU-Less system you choose is
compatible not only with the type of wiring you have in your
office, but also with any accessories you may already have, such
as: headsets, answering & fax machines and modems. Because
KSU-Less phone systems are relatively inexpensive, they are not
usually sold, installed, or maintained by telecoms vendors.

All of this means, you have to go out there and do not only the
shopping yourself but, also the installation and support. This
is one of the two major drawbacks of KSU-Less systems. The last
thing any business needs is to be concerned with the reliability
and maintenance of its phone system. Another drawback of
KSU-Less systems is that they are more prone to something known
as crosstalk. This is where separate conversations may blend
into each other. With PBX, Key systems and Hybrid systems
falling in price, it sometimes makes more sense to invest in a
full business phone system, rather than become susceptible to
the risks of a KSU-Less system.

Private Branch Exchange (PBX) systems

If your business typically requires more than forty extensions,
or your needs dictate you need advanced functions from your
business phone system, then PBX systems are often the solution.
PBX systems used to be extremely expensive and only affordable
by huge corporations with hundreds of extensions. Though this is
still the case for larger installations, the development of the
technology required has progressed to the point where a
powerful, fully functional PBX office phone system for a small
business is able to fit on the top of a desk.

Nearly all these compact PBX phone systems come with all the
features you might want as standard. You pay a premium for the
programmability and flexibility that a PBX offers, but in most
cases the price difference is not as much as you may imagine
between that of a less flexible phone system.

Key Systems

Key phone systems are more typical in businesses that require
five to forty extensions. This type of phone system uses a
central control unit called the Key System Unit (KSU) to provide
features and functions that are not available using ordinary
phones. An example of this is: key systems using a KSU allow one
extension to call another in house extension, and prevents any
other users from picking up a line that is already in use. Key
systems usually come as standard with most features any business
would expect, but in some cases they are often less flexible
than a PBX phone system.

PBX & Key Systems (hybrids)

Though Key and PBX systems have some different technical
features, these differences have become somewhat blurred over
the past couple of years. Many Key systems now offer features
that were once only available to those who chose to install a
full PBX phone system. Some systems also operate internally as
either a PBX or Key system depending on the software installed.
Sometime these systems are often referred to as “Hybrid” phone
systems.

Installation & maintenance of PBX and Key phone systems

PBX and Key phone systems require installation by fully trained
and qualified telecoms engineers. All outside and inside lines
must connect to the PBX or KSU cabinet. The installation and
maintenance of one of these types of phone system can be just as
expensive as the phone system itself. In many cases you may be
able to use the existing phone lines available in your office,
but unless the phones you have been using are relatively new,
they may not be compatible with your new system, requiring you
to purchase new handsets as well as the system itself.

The Right Size System

It is important that when buying a new business telephone
system, that you know your requirements in advance. Knowing what
features need to be included with your new telephone system will
stand you in good stead when it comes to negotiating with
potential suppliers. When considering buying a new telephone
system for your business, there are two major factors that
determine the size of the system you require:

Lines. These are sometimes called trunks. The number of lines a
system has denotes the number of outside lines being used by a
company.

Extensions. Most extensions will be made up of handsets. Though
any equipment that requires a phone line is classed as an
extension. This includes fax machines, modems, and credit card
equipment etc.

It is important that you make a list of all the extensions and
lines you may need for your new phone system. Not forgetting
some users may need more than one line and multiple extensions.

With key systems, the size of a phone system is indicated as a
combination of both lines and extensions. For example a system
that has 10 lines and 30 extensions will be shown as a 10 x 30
system.

With PBX phone systems, size is defined as a combination of
lines and extensions, called “Ports”. The number of “Ports” is
the maximum number of connections that can be made to the phone
system. These include outside lines and inside extensions, as
well as any other telephone system accessories.

When planning for a new business phone system, you should take
into account the future expansion of your company, by foreseeing
any extra needs at an early stage. Even if your current
telephone system is handling calls well for the time being, this
may not be the case when any future expansion or improvements
are fully implemented. A good business phone system should be
able to handle expansion easily and in a cost effective manor.
PBX phone systems allow you to expand their capabilities, by
adding new expansion cards, thus increasing the number of ports
available for use. A few key systems can be expanded by the
addition of another cabinet that is identical to the first.

When planning your new system it is important that you enquire
about the potential cost for the addition of more extensions or
ports. It is important that when choosing a new business phone
system, you ensure expansion will come not only easily but as
affordable as possible for your company.

Telephone System Dealers and Installers

Finding a good reliable dealer is the most important part of
buying a new business phone system. A good reputable dealer will
not only be able to sell you the system you require, but will
offer excellent, guaranteed installation and service as well as
always be on hand to answer any questions you have when problems
arise. To put it simply they will be there to hold your hand and
guide you through the process, from the planning and selection
of a suitable system, to the implementation of you new system
and training of staff. Any potential supplier will be more than
happy to talk to you about any aspect of a new business phone
system, and offer testimonials as to the quality of their
systems and installation service.

It is not uncommon for buyers to require a demonstration of
potential new phone systems. Any reputable dealer will be more
than happy to offer a full demonstration of any phone system
they supply. It is better for the dealer to visit your site,
that way they can get a proper view of your existing system and
evaluate your future communication requirements and cabling
needs.

Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) specify how quickly a dealer
responds to a problem with your phone system. A good dealer will
offer a range of SLA’s to cater for most business needs and
budgets. Expect to pay more if your business requires 24/7
support or response times shorter than normal.

Below are some questions that you could ask a dealer when
looking for a supplier of a business phone system:

1. Can I have a system demonstration?

2. Who will install the system and cabling?

3. What range of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s) do they offer?

4. Who will provide system training and what are the costs?

5. Can the dealer provide remote maintenance facilities?

6. What guarantees and warranties do they offer?

Check List

1. Decide which type of phone system best suits your businesses
needs.

2. Plan the size of your new system by evaluating the amount of
lines and extensions you require. Don’t forget to plan for any
future expansion.

3. Decide what extra features you might require from you new
business phone system (voicemail, door phones, etc).

4. Contact a few reputable dealers.

5. Arrange for a demonstration of suitable phone systems.

6. Work with your chosen dealer to select and purchase the
correct system for your business.

7. Don’t forget to sort suitable training and an adequate
service level agreement.

Final

The purchase and installation of the correct telephone system
for your business is a very important decision. It is imperative
that you get it right first time, as the functionality and
prosperity of you business could heavily depend upon it.
Remember to follow the few simple guide lines outlined in this
report, and you will be more prepared than most.

Thanks for reading my article

Jason Morri

Some of the features you need for your Business mobile Phone are –

These phones are larger and much more expensive than standard handsets, often costing as much AU$1,200, but they eliminate the need for two separate devices.

http://www.telaustralia.com.au/mobile/mobile

So your job seems to be going nowhere and this current recession has you worried. What are your options? You could look for yet another position at yet another firm, with the hope that it will be marginally better than the one you have now and that you will actually move up the corporate ladder instead of sideways. Or you could start to build your own business on the side and have something to go to when you are ready.Becoming self-employed has been the dream of many people for a very long time. After all, when there’s millions willing to join the rat race there must be an equally large group who want to leave it behind. So how do you do that and what field do you choose? Which money making venture you chose depends on what you think you will do well at. There are almost as many different ways of starting your own business as there are people in the world.Selling things online or through bricks and mortar businesses has often been the way many people choose to make money for themselves. One good product line to select could be the cell phone. In short, start a mobile phone business. Why start a mobile phone business? While the world is in recession right now and consumers aren’t buying as much as they used to consumer electronics have managed to buck this trend… handset sales will grow by 3% in the US and Europe next year with developing markets like South America, Asia and Africa achieving much stronger growth in wireless cell phone sales.People still want to keep in touch with each other when times are tough and if you start a mobile phone business that is online or through eBay then phones are fairly easy to ship to different countries due to their small size and light weight and cellular phones will not incur the huge duties that some other, higher profile items attract. How can I sell mobile phones? You can sell cellular phones any number of ways. By opening up your very own bricks and mortar cell phone store, stocking GSM phones, CDMA phones and cell phone accessories or utilize the classified section in newspapers and magazine. There are also a number of ways online to start a mobile phone business, including opening your own online cell phone shop, marketing cellular phones through online classified sites like Craigslist.org or through online auction sites like eBay and Amazon. How do I know which cell phones you should sell?Selecting the unlocked cell phone to stock on your online store when you start a mobile phone business is a difficult job as there is such a wide range of unlocked mobiles available these days. While I will talk about the different shapes and types of unlocked phone, their various benefits and problems and the types of people who buys each type of mobile in another article it very much depend on the types of people who use your service. It doesn’t matter whether you choose to stock a bar phone, flip phone, clamshell phone, ladies phone, slide cellular phone, flip cell phone or PDA. And you will succeed just as well if you get a movie phone, a music phone or one that lets you watch videos on phone. There are two things to make sure of… that you get phones that will work in the markets that you are selling them to and you buy unlocked cell phones. All cellular networks around the world work within the frequencies 850MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz and 1900MHz with some networks operating on two or more frequencies. As a result most phones available wholesale operate on two, three or four bands. Matching the ideal phone band to the market is essential for people who want to start a mobile phone business as it will be the difference between a phone that works and a phone that doesn’t. If you have people buying unlocked phones from all over the world you are better selling quad band cell phones as these international phones will give you the coverage you need. What is the difference between a locked and unlocked phone and why should I buy unlocked cell phones?A locked cell phone is one that is sold by a particular carrier and cannot be changed to another server unless the carrier themselves do it. For example, if you have an iPhone or a Blackberry, you are an AT&T customer and you want to use Verizon’s service then you have to call up AT&T and ask them to switch you to Verizon. Most locked cell phones are CDMA phones.Unlocked cellphones don’t come attached to a carrier so you can select which carrier you use. These are almost always GSM phones as the GSM SIM can be removed from unlocked GSM phones allowing another to be put in.So why choose to sell unlocked cell phones over locked cell phones? The simple answer is when you start a mobile phone business then you’re not going to have much money and you won’t want to pay the licensing fee necessary to buy network-approved phones. And with unlocked phones you’re able to buy phones wholesale which give you more profit and more freedom to run the business the way you want.Where can I find cell phones to sell?Sourcing products is one of the biggest headaches of anybody involved in e-commerce and buying unlocked cell phones is no different. If you want to find unlocked cell phones you can look in several areas, from a local wholesale company, from a wholesale importer in bulk lots on sites like eBay and overstock or through wholesale dropship companies that stock China cellphones wholesale. As cellphones and most electronics come from China these days this would probably be a logical step. Thankfully many of these wholesale dropship firms are online these days.It doesn’t matter if you want a bluetooth phone, music phone, WAP phone or a flip cell phone you will probably have to look through the same types of sources. How can I get phones from my supplier to my customer? When you want to start a mobile phone business online then you need to ask yourself one question which supply chain management method will I use, traditional bulk purchasing or dropshipping? Both methods have their plusses and minuses but as you are unlikely to have little in working capital one good option might be to choose the dropshipping means of fulfillment. Dropshipping is where you transfer the customer’s order directly to your supplier and they fill the order and you use their payment to pay for the phone after first taking off your profit. While this may seem like an e-commerce retailer’s dream come true there are still some problems with this and you will need to source new phones carefully, make sure you have sturdy and active communications lines with your wholesale dropship supplier of China cellphones wholesale phones and have an excellent customer services system set up to make sure you don’t get left with unhappy customers. What should I watch out for when I buy cell phones wholesale and then sell them? One of the most important things to be sure of is that you have a reliable wholesale cellphone supplier that will fill orders on time with the phones you ordered. It often takes some time to find the right China cellphones wholesale supplier so it might pay to shop around and get several samples before you decide who to give your business to. It is especially important to get a sample of the phones and test them for yourself for this very reason. It is also important to make sure that you get the phones with the right frequencies to the right markets. It doesn’t matter if you think you have found the coolest movie phone on the market with the best cell phone camera you have seen and incredible multimedia message functions. If it is a dual band phone using the frequencies 900MHz and 1800MHz and you are trying to sell it in the US then you are just going to have a whole lot of unhappy customers. This will end up with you getting many returns and a large number of multimedia phone paperweights on your hands. This is why tri band phones and quad band phones work best for people who start a mobile phone business online as they are true international phones and will work anywhere. This is just the start of your journey which may very well lead you to China cellphone wholesale suppliers and dropship wholesale companies. Just be sure to do your home work for as Chinese General once said “the enlightened ruler lays his plans well ahead; the good general cultivates his resources.”

Ready to start a mobile phone business?
