If we talk about today’s perspective then techniques which are being used can be divided into two broad categories i.e. server side technology and client side technology.Technology processing of which is being done in our web browser are called client based techniques because our computer works as a client while access information from server by these techniques. And technology which is being used by server computer is called server based technique. Server utilizes these techniques to send you the required information from web.

Browser understands only client based technologies like HTML, XHTML, CSS, and Java Script etc.

HTML:HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language and can be understood as a method of labeling text so that computer can understand it and respond according to data.HTML was discovered by Tim burners in 1990 and now in control of W3C. HTML uses tags to label text and tells browser that text enclosed between tags is important to be considered.

XHTML:XHTML stands for extended HTML. It is just like an extension to HTML and it is known as application of XML family. It was developed for being used in extensible mark up languages like XML. It is being used so extensively in place of HTML that looking like most promising language for future prospectus in web design field.

CSS:CSS covers the Visual presentation control of any web page. CSS Stands for Cascading Style Sheets and used to tell browsers that how they should display the web page in terms of color, styles, resolution, and special effects. This application is usually used to style pages of HTML and XHTML format but can be used with any kind of XML Page.

DHTML:Programme which needs to be executed or say which needs to run inside a web browser that kind of programmes are written by DHTML technology. DHTML Stands for Dynamic HTML and it is not a scripting language like java scripting. It is just a feature that enables our browser to show the web page dynamically. Means browser can alter the web page style if it needs to be changed after web.

Web 2.0 has numerous definitions. Tim O’Reilly regards Web 2.0 as business embracing the web as a platform and using its strengths (global audiences, for example).O’Reilly — What Is Web 2.0 O’Reilly considers that Eric Schmidt’s abridged slogan, don’t fight the Internet, encompasses the essence of Web 2.0 — building applications and services around the unique features of the Internet, as opposed to building applications and expecting the Internet to suit as a platform (effectively “fighting the Internet”).
In the opening talk of the first Web 2.0 conference, O’Reilly and John Battelle summarized what they saw as the themes of Web 2.0. They argued that the web had become a platform, with software above the level of a single device, leveraging the power of the “Long Tail”, and with data as a driving force. According to O’Reilly and Battelle, an architecture of participation where users can contribute website content creates network effects. Web 2.0 technologies tend to foster innovation in the assembly of systems and sites composed by pulling together features from distributed, independent developers (a kind of “open source” development and an end to the software-adoption cycle, the so-called “perpetual beta”). Using the singleton design pattern

A group of authors now affectionately known as the ‘Gang of Four’ (Erich Gamma, Richard Helm, Ralph Johnson, and John Vilssides) wrote a book called ‘Design Patterns: Elements of Reusable Object-Oriented Software’. In this book they defined three categories of design patterns which are:

The Singleton Design pattern falls into the category of Creational Design Patterns, the Singleton Design Pattern ensures your software has only one instance of the class and provides a global access to it. In other words the Singleton design pattern is all about making sure that you can instantiate only one object of a particular class. If you don’t use a pattern like this one, the new operator just keeps on creating more and more objects.

Technically you could just use a static class as then there would only be one shared instance of a class for. However, if you did that then you would miss out on some of the benefits of the singleton design pattern. These benefits that singletons have over static classes include:

In object oriented programming and software development you generally create an instance of an object by using a new operator, for example:

C#:            MyObject myNewInstance = new MyObject()VB.NET:      Dim myNewInstance As New MyObject()

Each time a new object the computer allocates a heap of memory, creating lots of these object will increase the amount of memory is used and potentially effect the performance of your software product.

So how do we make it so that we only ever have one instance of our class, well it is a very simple 2 stage process:

Notice how in the implementation of the singleton design pattern we declare a private static variable to store the instance of our class. When we call the function we have created to create our instance a check is performed to see if an instance exists in that variable, if not one is created and returned.
